Cam/Converter Reliabilty
Hey guys, I am seriously contemplating doing a cam/converter install in my 08 Sierra Denali. I would probably go with a cam in the 220+ duration, .560+ lift range on a 112 LSA. Converter would probably be a 3000 stall. I would also do some LTs. I know doing all this will void the powertrain warranty.
My question is will doing all of this cause my truck to be unreliable?
Will I constantly have to fix different things or is this a pretty simple install that will not cause other problems in my truck?
How reliable have your trucks been after being modded like this?
Thanks guys, this is my DD so I don't want to have a lot of down time with it.

sounds like you've got a pretty good plan! everything you've chosen seems like it will work well together...as far as reliability, just as long as you chose quality parts, you wont have a problem...i just recently installed a cam etc, in my truck and havnt opened the hood other than to show friends and change the oil...the tune will be the biggest part of reliability, get a good tune an you wont have problems...
BTW...my truck is a DD as well

My concerns are that if I do these mods and start breaking other stuff because of them I will be stuck with paying for new parts and not to mention the down time. I've done a lot of research though and nobody seems to have trouble with similar mods. I'm just a little hesitant because the truck only has 15,000 miles on it. Just trying to get some other people's opinions though.

I'd say if your real worried about it I wouldn't do it. I started modding my truck the day I bought it with 22miles. I drove from the show room to the dyno for a tune. At 650 miles the nitrous went on. At 3500 miles the first cam went in. 56,000 miles, 2 nitrous kits, 3 cam swaps, 3 header/exhaust installs, 350rwhp and beating the **** out of it, its still goin strong...you just just have to ask yourself...do I feel lucky?

Knowing what I know now about converters go with a very HD clutch in the lock up. Either extra plates or thicker ones and also when you retune for it shut off the lock up feature through the tow/haul switch, that will prolong their life. A loose converter with big HP & heavy vehicle is hard on those lutches.
