I started heavily modifying my engine(relatively speaking) when it had 100,000 miles. I have no other form of transportation. When my **** breaks, I ride a bicycle.
With that said I've had my truck cammed for 2 years. I've driven my truck 700 miles in a day, taken it to the track, and drive it everywhere I go without hesitation.
As long as you go with quality stuff there is nothing to worry about.

The mods i have- setup is great ive drove about 9k this summer since the swap (spring time)! took it to the track ran it on somewhat of slicks.... (autocross tires) I was driving it everyday as a DD until i got a company vehicle. The only thing i have noticed is it take a little bit to get used to the colder weather... chugs different when you start it up when its cold. But thats all the tune i have the idle set lower than normal (650) IMA Get a wideband and watch the A/F mine was off by a point and if i didnt catch it- it probably would have done some damage

Its good to hear all this positive feedback. I will have someone that is very mechanically inclined helping me and I will let Wheatley tune it. As for the converter, I'm not sure if anyone makes them. Would a Yank or PI be heavy duty enough? The rearend, I'm not sure if it's a 12 or 14 bolt, guess I need to look at it.

i had the Yank TT3000,, pretty tight converter but the turbo pushed it hard.. i towed with it and everything.. Broke the output shaft on the trans twice and the converter never gave me any trouble...
Dont ask about the 8 converters i had before the yank..
