Does he have his supporting mods? He will also need new valve springs and the highest lift he can go is .480 stock, .530 with .050 locks. Any higher he will need to modify the heads. Will he get this tuned for the cam and what about his torque converter?
He does not want to get a bigger cam too because our fuel injection is limited, along with the intake manifold. To allow more fuel the intake would need to be changed out, however it is good up to 400hp. Another problem is the highest he can rev is up to 5800 unless he changes his entire computer to a newer van model's.

well he's not wanting to mod the truck really... just wants the cam for show i guess you can say so he wont be getting a stall, intake, etc. we'll put springs and retainers lifters and all if needed.. just trying to get an idea of how big we can go without makin it too big of a job.... parts so far seem pretty cheap

If he does what you say he is planning, he will regret it.
However, with this motor you will need a hydraulic roller cam instead of a flat tappet. Also look at the numbers at .050 instead of the advertised duration.

In my opinion, any cam that has the "thumpin' idle sound" is not going to be very well suited to a daily driver truck. This will be a cam with a fairly large duration (let's say 220°/230° range at .050") and a small lobe separation angle (maybe 107° to 109°). Switching out the cam to something with the sound that your buddy wants will make the truck a dog as a daily driver (even with an excellent tune). This kind of cam will come alive around 4,000 to 4,400 RPM's and will be anemic until then. If you friend wants a moderate improvement in performance, he could get something like a 206°/212° or maybe a 212°/218° cam with about a 114° LSA. It will idle a little rough if the idle speed is slow (say 600), but it would not be mistaken for a super high performance cam.
Just my 2 cents.

yea... i hear what ya'll are sayin.... im not gonna let him go too extreme with a cam cause it would be a slug drivin around without the supporting mods.... just lookin for a good DD cam with good sound... maybe a 113 or 114 LSA

There is no such thing as a good dd cam with good sound without supporting mods. A good dd cam would have no lope to it. I am sure my 218/224 would put some good lope on the 350, but he WILL definately need a higher stall torque converter with it. Heck, I will I had a smaller stall even with that cam in my 383.
