Be surprised how many out there just want that race car idle so they get attention when they are at the gas station or cruising thru a parking lot. Truck before that one had a pretty big cam in a 6.2 with headers and it went from 3" collectors to 1.5" pipe all the way out the back... It was horrendously loud.... and slow.

Just wanna make a disclaimer that I am not fast I just think it is funny how people forget that trucks are more than just an engine

The kid with the LQ9 truck found some milled/"ported" 799 heads For $750 and wants to put them on instead of going to a smaller cam or getting a converter or other things that are helpful. But still wants to run 87 octane... And pulls a trailer about everyday.

Oof that sounds terrible.
You need to guide him the correct route. 87 octane with like 11:1 comp lol

So I think I'm going with a btr stage 2 and beehive springs, I don't plan on regearing the truck being 4wd it won't be cheap. As far as long tubes go 1 3/4 or 1 7/8:? What's the difference mostly sound?

1 7/8 gonna lose some low end torque. It will be louder though.
Find out your gear ratio, it should be an RPO code in the glove box. I get your reasoning why you don't wanna regear but you are going to be killing yourself not to. Even the stage 2 cam you are going to lose low end torque being it's a 4.8. (Not a ton but you will)

If you do beehive valve springs make sure you get the low lift cam .550/.550 no need for the higher lift cam in a stock 4.8 anyway. The good thing about that cam is it will work just as well or better in a 6.0 when the 4.8 dies.

Always go 1 7/8" header
