This is who I refer to when I say boomer, its more of a state of mind
I used to work with an old guy who knew everything. Shoot, if you think I'm bad (I am), this guy was 20x worse

Some quotes from him:

"Polished primaries beat long tubes and are cheaper"
"I can make more power without a blower"
"Glass packs are the absolute best muffler out there"
"1 3/4 exhaust will flow everything I need"
"It makes so much power it throws the belt when it shifts"

He had some funky/special worked over "Corvette" 327 in a single headlight Bel Air. I don't remember any details, but knowing him- it was all BS anyway. I thought the car looked and sounded great, but one day we raced and my 4cyl Saturn that was a total junkyard build smoked him. He never really talked to me again after that aha

Oh! : I rode a 2001 SV650 at the time and this guy had a 99 Big Dog (circa 2008) and he was talking all kinds of trash about import bikes and how unreliable they were and slow and yada yada. So in the course of chatting he let it slip that his bike was in pieces because it broke something in the primary drive. My bike had just over 30k on it at the time, that Big Dog had a little under 5k he told me

I love me some boomer

Probably has the wide ratio NV3500 with the 4.02 1st gear. Coupled with the 1st gear you have about 13.7:1 overall ratio. Although the 35" tires will make it effectively ~ 12:1 compared to stock. The 4L80E is only a 2.48, so about 10:1 overall ratio in 1st.

You can build SBC horsepower on the cheap because of the saturation of aftermarket parts available but it's not going to be as reliable as the LS design. I'd say in ten or so years we'll see LS aftermarket parts overtake SBC in sales. SBC builds will be more restoration than hotroding. It's getting harder and harder to find a good 010 4 bolt main SBC block everyday.
SBCs still have their place.

Comparing a new build LS vs a new build SBC, for a late model vehicle, it just doesn't make sense.
