I was qouted just the other day 1200 for labor alone on a cam/pr/valvespring/ls2 timing chain install. Basically, it was over ~19 hours of labor. I about **** myself. Talking to the guy for a bit, he was planning on pulling intake to get to the lifters. When I mentioned that you did not need to pull the intake to get to the lifters on gen 3 motors, he changed the subject about how long it would take to change the springs. So.... find a shop that is knowledgable in Gen 3 motors.
I would not think that it would be that difficult to do. But having the tools and the time to do it is another issue. My truck in on the road seven days a week. Also, I am self employed. Which means, No ticket, No Laundry. I am going to need to pay someone to install one while I am work.

I did an install on my z28 a while back. Very easy. Way easier than motormounts. There is plenty of room in my trucks engine bay compared to an fbody. I can be done in one day if you plan it out and are not afraid to wrench. I would not change out the cam without also throwing in some heads. patriot performance has some nice heads for a good price.

lt headers
intake manifold- maybe
= power

Cam swaps aren't as difficult as some make it out to be... A buddy of mine has done one in my driveway in under 5 hours... that was cam & springs. I swapped to my 2nd performance cam and 7.400 pushrods a few weeks ago, and it took about the same amount of time (my first time actually doing all the work myself). Hell... for $700 I'd do it for ya, and let ya drink my beer while you watch and wait, as long as you bought the parts.
