Hey guys this week I might tackle my cam installation. Ive bought the SDPC gasket kit that also includes the crank bolt. Is there any suggestions or insight that would make things easier? Do I have to mess with any of my A/C stuff? Thanks.

nope you will need a puller for the crank pulley. you do not need to mess with the a/c. remove the radaiater and get after it.

 

It's a piece of cake IMO. Just make sure the lifters stay up (JPR Tool from Thunder worked great for me), and if you're doing springs, make sure you have a good spring compressor. I've heard great things about the Crane unit, but used the one from Thunder myself.

It refers to an F-body, but the bulk of it applies to trucks also.

I left my radiator in, for what it's worth. Just moved it up and supported it with random household objects.

When you remove the cam with the longer water-pump bolts in, remove them when you can get a good grip on the cam.... otherwise they'll hit the condensor and stop you just short of getting the cam out.

Other than that, not much. I had a good time doing my internal work. I'd prefer it anyday over working with axles and suspension and what-not.

 

get a longer crank bolt to help get the pulley back on,saves some fooling around
