Default cam for my LS1

Once I graduate in November, I will finally have time to install my LS1 that has been holding the concrete down in my garage for about 4 months now. While the motor is out, I want to go ahead and swap out the cam/springs/retainers. I want a cam that will make good power with my truck being a daily driver. I can make some sacrifices, but I dont want it to be undrivable in traffic. CAn somebody point me in the right direction as to which cam purchase, along with what springs and retainers to get? Thanks

Austin

I've always liked the MTI C2 cam in a 5.7 or 6.0 motor application, or if you want to go much bigger there's the X1 cam.

Nice truck.

I think my personal rule of thumb would be to keep it under 224/224* duration. I ran a 220/220, and it was a little too much for my daily-driving. The less duration you run, generally the more streetable and tame (and torquey) it will be. More duration, more top end and higher peak numbers you'll get.

If it were me, I'd go with the cam I'm running now but buy it on the .550/.550" lobes. I love this thing for daily-driver street performance.

Thanks for the input. I was gonna post it in the internal section, but I figured truck people may have a little more insight since it would be going in a heavy truck. Although now that I think about it, F-Bodies arent all that light themselves.

I'm running the TR224 (224/.563/112) and am very pleased with the power, especially down low. I have had some help tuning it through the board, but have never had it dyno tuned. I think driveability and power would both be much better with a solid tune.

I'm actually wanting to go with more cam. I'm sure that I'll really want more once I get the 80-e and 3200 stall in the truck.
