Default Cam Question #863,736,847

Okay, I here's the deal. Right now, I don't have many mods but I plan on getting FI later. I will also be in Cali so I have smog to consider. Is there one cam that would be good for all these conditions. I don't want anything too wild. I'm thinking either a 01 Z06 or a 206/212. I know that a big cam for FI and a big cam for N/A are totally different but like I said, I don't want anything too wild.

Thanks,
J.R.

The type of FI makes a difference. Traditional +6 split is favored by supercharger people, whereas turbo folks tend to recommend reverse split cams.

I would suggest just getting a cam you can enjoy now. Once you see that you can do a cam yourself, you can install a different one once you decide which FI system to go with. The best part about the second time around is you don't have to deal with springs, just the cam, which just about halves the time for a cam swap.

The cam in my sig is perfect for a 5.3L motor with the stock converter. Since you have a 2800 converter, the ever-popular Comp 212/218 would be a nice cam, as would that Vinci 210/218 trucker cam.

As in, instead of 220/224, it would be 224/220 (Intake/Exhaust).

Turbos like the shorter exhaust duration, I guess to spool up the turbo
