Cam question (yet another)
I have an 02 Denali truck and I can get myself a Thunder Racing
236/230 on a 112 for a really good price and its a brand new cam.
Should I get it and not worry about it. Since its a 6.0 liter it can take alittle larger cam and still be not un-driveable. Or should I get it and then sell it or trade it for a smaller cam like a 224/227.
Also how many people have put cams in there trucks and driven with the stock convertor. I would be driving with the stocker forever but just long enough to save money for a convertor.
If my memory serves me right I think I have seen someone on here with a 230 something cam in an HD I would like to hear from him. But other opinions ar appreiciated.

Yea thats what I was thinkin. If I bought it I proly wouldnt put it in until after the first off the year so I could put heads on it also. Because im gonna port some LS1's myself and put them on to raise comp. ratio some to.
And put headers and a convertor all at the same time.

you must have a stall. Theres no way around it. That cam will put a ton of stress on your drivetrain (you have to up the idle) so your trans will try and pull when your foot is on the brake. Do other mods first! A big cam will not do **** for you. You need headers, exhaust, valve springs, pushrods not to mention a lot of tuning!

You might be refering to BLK6.0HD... He had a 226/232? cam in his 6.0L. It defiantely hauls *** but was a bitch to get idling correctly from mail order tunes and he ended up taking everything off the truck to further his race car. I believe he trapped about 100mph N/A (stock heads, no pulley) at 5500lbs.
The cam is a bit large without a stall and would love to be shifted really high. I think Paul is selling his cam and converter if you are interested I can contact him for you. I htink his TC was a TCI 3200 stall.

I ran a TR220-112 on a stock converer in my 6.0.... and I wouldn't go a whole lot higher, personally. I think a TR224 would still have been "liveable" for daily street use.
I'm picky when it comes to this stuff though... I'm unhappy if power is lost under 2,000 RPM.

I really dont care about power below 2000 rpm because the truck is never driven below there.
I know that it needs a convertor. I said that. And The cam will come with springs and pushrods are like 100 bucks.
It will either be tuned my MTI or HPE because im in houston.
How much do you think he wants for the cam in that truck. And which valve springs does he have. I cant afford the convertor right now. But ask him how much he wants for it and does he ever tow alot with it.
