Cam #s? what do they mean?
cna someone tell me what the numbers on the cam specs mean...like 224 and then those middle numbers then the lobe separation...what does each one and what does lobe separation do as the number gets higher...what does that do to the performance and sound?

The #s with 'in' after is the amount the valve opensin inches. The duration is the #s with degrees after it and that means for that given duration the valve is open for that amount of rotation of the cam. And finaly LSA is the degrees of seperation of the center lines of the intake and exhaust lobes. Duration is where you see power increse, but usally lift rises with it acordingly. See increased duration means more time for more a/f to com in, biger combustion, more power. lift is limited by lots of variables, too many to list. And lsa in as basic terms as you can get, is the peak torque spot in the torque curve. Small lsa means low peak torque, not to be confused with low torque. By low peak torque I mean that the motor will reach its max torque at low rpms. And with that said yes you got larger lsa means a peak torque in the upper rpms.
