Default Cam spring help

Hey guys Im just getting my feet wet in the whole performance world an I'm trying to understand how to pick the right valve springs for a build , any info would be great, I know you can buy cam kits that come with springs and push rods but I want too know why I need those specific one for that style cam.

I honestly don't really know all the details yet on how all that stuff works, but believe you need to have a camshaft in mind and know the profile. Also, to select cam, you need to know or consider other things such as axle ratio, tire size and torque converter stall speed because everything works together.

Lots of savvy folks here on your original question. They'll chime in.

Cool! I'm building an stock-ish engine and I'm starting to shop around for lifters too. Definitely interested in your question and what folks would recommend.

Lifters are one of the most important if not the most important part of the engine. Don't skimp.

Anyway, basically you want to have an idea on how high you are revving it as well as the valve lift on the cam.

What brands should I stick with and what brands should I stay away from, iv been reading conflicting stories about the Delphi ls7 lifter and the only other brands I see is Johnson
right now I have no plans to run it past what is stock in the computer , and to be honest I don't even know what the stock rev limit of my gen iv 5.3l is in my truck is, I. A dodge mechanic so ls is all new to me

This is probably the best video I have come across about camshaft selection. This guy specializes on the older American V8 engines, but I think he nails down the fundamentals.

DavidVizard? Never seen it. 🤔 I'll have to watch it...

After I posted that, I came across another video on Facebook by Summit Racing and the guy was showing how to use the online calculator.
