Default Cam swap on 2012 silverado with 5.3 and 6l80e

Hey guys. I want to do a came swap in my 2012 silverado with a 5.3l and 6l80e and ii want to do a cam swap swap on my truck its a daly driver. Iv been doing some resserch and im likeing the truck noris cam from btr. I found a kit plus dod and vvt delete to go along with it.. I im very intresetd in the tuneing aspect and want to learn the basics of tuneing with the hp tunners. But i cant really find any coreses or a place to start.and insite would be awsome. Aslo any inside on cam set ups. Im not really trying to nmake this a power house by any means. Just a little more pep in its step. Im also not aposed to haveing to get a coverter for it eather. But i dont realy wont to beef up the trans right now but possibley down the raod. And should i worry about cam bearings? The trucks has 140k on the motor .so its kinda up there in miles. Thanks guys

The Tuning School has good courses. Your year is a little more tricky as the GENIV uses a Virtual VE table. And from what I understand, the 6L80E has to be tuning a certain way or longevity will suffer (maybe someone with more experience on here can go into more detail).

The BTR TN is not going to be an easy cam to learn on. The additional overlap is going to make it a lot harder for a novice trying to make it driveable. I'd suggest start learning on the stock engine and get really comfortable with tuning before doing a swap. And you'd be better off with something with less overlap if you want to learn. Something like the SUM-8728R1 or CamMotion Titan Truck 1.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about just playing around with the stock motor for now to learn the program before putting a cam in, I was going to go with a remote tune with the new cam so I know it run way better then I can do right now, just looking to see if there any classes out there some where I can reference the knowledge on the subject, tuning had always peaked my interest, just wanted to learn about it so I know what I'm looking at in the software. But I'll look into those cams too thanks for the info.

depends on what version of the cam he gets... i think there 5 now.
The 'no springh required' cam add like 40 some hp and will rn on the stock tune.
It will need tuned to get the most out of it, but, its an easy cam to learn on.

That being siad, for the price of hptuners, and the learning, its much easier and faster to have the vehicle tuned by someone and be doen with it.
Also go here and learn. https://forum.hptuners.com/forumdisp...ine-Gas-(Gen-4)

The "TN" in my post stood for "Truck Norris." There's only 2 versions of that camshaft and the standard and the No Springs Required (NSR) cam. Neither would run on a stock tune.

I think you're thinking of the Stage 1 Truck NSR which adds about 30hp and probably still start, idle, and drive on a stock tune until he could get it dialed in.

OP: For reference, here's a newbie to tuning trying to get the TN to run his truck:
