wwardd, somebody has been telling you stories buddy....

Do yourself a favor and just read, read, read, and read. And then read some more, because you have A LOT to learn. I would suggest not buying any parts or taking any steps in modding your truck yet until you have a very good understanding of what these parts do and how they effect your engine and performance. Make sure you also understand the supporting modifications that must be done before and after changing cams, etc.

So to sum it up

DO NOT BUY ANY PARTS OR MAKE ANY DECISIONS UNTIL YOU READ THREADS ON THIS FORUM FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. There is a lot of knowledge and experience around here, and you will learn very valuable information, and very useful steps to follow. We will save you money on mods that are proven not to work or be worth the money, but don't expect to spend less than $5-6K if you're looking for 350-400 horsepower.

^^ I agree 100%..I know what the op means by "He heard somwhere"...all these "how to" ls1 books talk about putting a ls1 cam into a 4.8/5.3 to "unleash hidden power"
-outside of these forumns people have NO CLUE as to what makes power...thats why the maf,t/bspacer,tornado companies are still in buisness

I read the specs on the 5.3 HO crate and they did a cam and piston change and hit 330.The cam gm uses for this engine is the LQ9 cam from late model 02-up. I am not going to do piston change but was thinking maybe a head change like LS7 heads. Like I said maybe i am wrong but I do have another ? I can't have LT headers due to emissions but r shorty's worth it I have heard mixed results. Thanks

as far as mods go start with a cold air intake, a custom tune from you of our sponsers blackbear-wheatly-nelson,then maybe some 410s out back. that will get you on the right track maybe other will chime in also
