cam swap

Question cam swap

I want a cam for my 4.8... I just don't know what will work and what's proven to make some power... ill do a tc if needed... any suggestions???

What do you want out of the truck? If I were you, I'd probably save the money from a cam swap and do a 6.0 instead. If you can find a good deal on a 6.0 ($800-1000), you'll be much happier.

I can get the block for around 200... plus a 408 stroker kit installed for around 1700 in all... and then add on to that... but I don't know what more ill need for that to work right

Imo going to a 408 isn't the best use of money. Most of the guys that build them on here blow them up anyways . Going from a 4.8 to a cammed 6.0 would be a healthy jump for a fair price.

Look in local Craigslist, newspaper, car / truck forums online, Corehouse / Re manufactured companies, Ebay has them too but IMHO id rather be able to go and look at the engine with my own two eyes before I bought it.

Your best bet is Local or Local Craigslist so you can go look before you buy.

x2!!!!! and i rather use a junk yard motor then a re-buld 1 ! IMHO no matter how good an engine builder is its never as good as the production line ! but thats just my .2

a tuned, stalled, 6.0 with long tube headers will be a beast compared to the 4.8 even if it had a mild cam . imo
