A larger cam and higher stall will make a huge difference!!! What gears do you have now?

My plans for my 4.8 are a 220/220 cam with a 3000-3200 stall, and 3.90 gears. That should be enough to hold me over till I get the 4l80, and the 6.0 built how I want it, which should be enough to hold me over till I get the 427 built

Assuming you have at least 3.42 gears, you should be ok with a higher stall and bigger cam. If you have steeper gears (lower numerically) you may want to step up to 3.73's or something even lower. Im putting 4.10's in my CC but Im running a tall tire on it.

I hear ya, I run a 275/55 20 on my CC. Its about a 32" tall tire. If youre just concerned with track performance and you run smaller tires at the track, 3.73s should be fine. If your concerned with everyday around town driving, Id step up to 4.10's
Either way, a bigger stall and cam will help it move out quicker. The cam, stall, and gears will make it even better.

i am still stock 3.42 gears ...shifts into 3rd at the 1/4 mile
3.42s are hurting my 60ft times 2.0 on drag radials
didnt you say you were 4x4 thats double the price for gears!
I am willing to put my baby cam against a 220 cammed truck any day!
If i was you go 3000 stall and if you recammed it wouldnt go to big so it still has lowend grunt

Im guessing noone caught what he said he runs in 1/8 mile. Im hoping its a typo cause a 7.65 in 1/8 is moving out pretty good. i run a 8.3 and its a 13.2 in 1/4 mile.

Sounds to me that you just aren't happy with your results. I would do as everyone else has suggested with changing out the converter, then if thats not enough I would throw some 4.56 gears with a 22, finally if that doesn't get you were you want to be then change out the cam for something bigger. Because by then you'll have all the tools in the truck to get what you need out fo the cam.
