Default Cam swap very unhappy!

Hi im new to the site from chicagoland. Here is my problem i put a cam in my truck and feels no better then the stock cam. How much of a difference should i feel seat of the pants. mods 93 hot tune from nelson tuned for the cam pace longtubes,ory,3"all the way magnaflow22", cai, 3000tt,vett servo,speed inc 214/220 559/564 111.5lsa, pac1218, comp 7.4,eaton lsd, The truck is a 05 gmc z71 L33 3.42 gears stock trim. any ideas?

I would think that a pretty decent cam and converter combo. Those gears got to go for sure!

Are you sure you got the right cam? Did you degree it in to verify the valve events? Have you retuned for the changes? These are all very critical items you may/should have addressed.

Gears are next but even with the stock cam i had traction issues in 2wd now i can barely get them to spin. plus already lost 4mpg highway was at 22.8 now 18.5mpg. For the second reply had it tuned for the setup but i dont have a degre wheel i set it dot to dot.

Thats the first thing i checked took it apart still dot to dot could it be in the tune? When this thing idles in the garage it will make you eyes water it smells so rich and my bumper has turned black in the week i had this cam in.

Is that a Yank TT3000 I see? Did you have all of your aforementioned mods installed prior to the cam, running fine?

I'm wondering, was the cam used? Are you sure it is the cam you think it is (in other words, did you cross-check the part number engraved on the cam prior to install)?

I put a small cam in my truck (204/212) and immediately felt a difference.

The only thing i changed was the cam, springs, pushrods and tune everything was brand new everything else was installed prior. Did not chech the engraving on cam but put them side by side and the new cam seemed bigger. I reused the old timming chain could that be a prob didnt have much slack and only 47k. Could a tooth off cause the rich condition?

i have pretty close to the same setup and it was a night and day diff between the stock cam and the one i have now even with no tune it was better just didnt shift well and when i got it tuned it was amazing the diff it made even tho my truck is a single cab 2by not a 4by it still should have been a very big jump forward
