I have the opportunity to get a cam from my truck for free. I however am unsure if I'll need to change the torque converter or if it will be to big for my gearing. The truck is a 2005 Silverado RC/SB with a 5.3L 4L60 trans. and manual transfer case. It's also 4WD with 3.42 gears and a G-80 diff. The cam is a 226/226 .544 lift with a 112 LSA. I'm also worried the LSA might be a little to low for my application. Currently everything is stock, with a Magnaflow cat-back going on next week. I know I will need a tune but I have that all sorted out already. Thanks for the help in advance.

In stock form, you will probably be slower with that cam. ![The Jester](https://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_jest.gif)
Just because it is free, doesn't make it a good choice.
Your truck will be a dog below 3000 RPM, you would need a 3000-3600 stall to optimize performance. Is this truck a daily driver? If so, keep it mild and don't go wild. Your truck is also undergeared from the factory, which makes this cam choice even worse.

^Good advice here. To put it succinctly, that cam's not a good match to what you have.
What are you using the truck for, and what do you want out of it? Tire size (height) would help too.
