Let's not forget that we don't know what gear he has either...hopefully there's at least a 3.73 in there. My tires are 33's and I'm kinda borderline with my gearing, but it does go nicely down the highway around 2k at 75 mph.
I don't want to get too far off topic, but I hear what you're saying too Naked, this has actually been one of my personal battles with cam selection (bark or bite). Alot of guys just want something that sounds mean and performs good (noticeable improvement over stock), as opposed to maximizing performance and efficiency. To each their own, if that's what makes someone happy more power to them (no pun intended). Someday I hope to build a street rod (31 5-window or something like that), and I want it to sound mean as hell. It's gonna have a GENIII engine (probably my 5.3 that I'll be removing for an LQ9), and more than likely the ever hated Hot Cam, just because it'll make a street rod sound like a street rod should. When I finally get around to getting my LQ9 project for my daily driver underway, I'm more than likely gonna go with Cam Motion's recommendation of 218/218 .564/.564 114+4. I know that alot of guys will say "that cam's too small", but for the powerband and driveability that I want, I think it's perfect. Plus, a trained ear will know it's there.

I just got my truck back yesterday. With the tb stalls, it flashes to about 25-2600. JFYI. Who did you talk to at cammotion? The cam they ground for me is a little different. I figured they would be closer, but I guess since I had a 3000 stall, that may have had something to do with it.

I realised I had a few more differences too. I called and talked to Terry. He was a great help. Im happy with mine, now if I can just get the tuning stuff worked out Ill be good to go. Especially once I get rid of this TB stall, and get a real converter.

he has 3.73 gears. He also doesnt go wheeling anymore because breaking too much and scratching up his paint. So now he just uses the truck to haul stuff. No towing or wheeling anymore. He just wants the cammed sound. He called thunder racing and they said the converter is recommended but he will be OK without the converter and dyno tunning.
