Default Cam is in, truck is tuned and running hard

Just got my truck back from being tuned by jim buckmaster in madison wisconsin and i am very pleased with the way it runs so far. I have an 04 LS6 cam and springs in it now so i had it tuned to rev 6500 and man does it ever make the truck a different machine. Not only does it now lunge into 2nd and 3rd it allows me to get a lot more out of 1st and 2nd since im reving more and man does that help. It seems to me though that everybody on here thinks that the 02-04 cam makes your motor so dog slow in the low end but i know for a fact that my truck is no slower to 3500rpm and man when it hits 3500 it pulls hard and fast right to 6500. I can now get almost 100 out of my second gear with the 3.73's Just thought i would let everybody know If there were any speculations out there or had wrong ithoughts about the 02-04 LS6 cam. Thanks a lot and please respond

Congradulations, glad youre happy with it Are you still on the factory converter? I think you would love it if you went about 3000 stall

Yeah I do still have the stock converter in it right now but am looking at replacing the stock for a vigilante. Jim buckmaster the one who tuned my truck recommended that converter and said even that would shave an estimated .5 tenths off my quarter time. I think for the guy with your 04 silverado it just depends on what you want to do with your truck. My truck is a rcsb sportside which only weighs about 4700 pounds with me in the truck. I mean upto 3500 personally i dont feel any loss of power but man like i said before it pulls very hard from 3500-6500 . The LS6 cam is also a great forced induction or nitrous cam because of the 117.5 lobe separation and gives pretty solid power curves for the most part. I was really worried before i got the truck back because of all the negativity on the 02-04 LS6 cam. I have heard all the people with the ls1's like the Ls6 cam in them too.

Congrats dude! Seems seems to me you are very pleased with that cam! Yeah I've also heard the 01 LS6 cam was the best application for our trucks, but I guess form what im reading the 02-04 are just as good! Looks to be a good cam overall from reading its specs!

No i havent had it dynoed yet or been to the track yet but plan to as soon as i can. I would benefit greatly from a stall though just because my truck is still kind of dead until it gets in its powerband. I like the way it is geared now and running though because i get the full use of first and second which should make my 1/4 mile times pretty good seeing that i do about 98 or so in second. If i just had a stall or sumthing like a supercharger to pick my low end up and give me a boost off the get go it would run some wicked times. Im considering even a small shot of N2O but my goal is to hit the 13teens being N/A and still being very streetable.

white1, the guy posting above you in this thread, has a cam for sale in the classifieds section, that i think would work well in your application, having extra weight and all. he's a good guy, talk to him right quick. the price is right!
