Well guys, I have had the thunderracing cam on my shelf for about 7 months. I'm really ready to put it in. But I dont have any tunning execpt for hypershit. The cam is the 220/220 on a 112 lsa. What do you guys think of this?

before i got my tune i was running my tr220/112 on stock tune and stock stall. didn't have any idle issues when i first started it after the cam install. when you slow down and come to a stop (especially hard on the brakes), the rpms will drop to 450 to 500 and the engine will want to die. you just have to use two feet (one on brake and one on gas) at the same time. or i'd just get aggrivated and put it in neutral at a light. i was suprised that it ran good on the stock tune.

so I would be ok for the time being. My truck surges sometimes as it is. and some times dies. I have the 3k stall so that part wouldnt be a problem any ways. So should I back off my timming from 93 back down to 87? and Put back the stock shift poiints and all?

it will be ok for the time being. i'm sure you can leave it were it's programed at right now. i just went ahead to be on the safe side and put the factory octane setting on the hypertech. you can still use the shift points you programed into it. thats what i did.

I drove mine for a day and it was a PITA having to two foot it to keep it from dying, but it sure did sound health idling at 525 rpm's. Once you get it tuned you will wonder why you didn't put it in 7 months ago. Good luck and let us know what kind of numbers she puts down.

Thoughts on rim/tire combos are very welcome also. 17 x 10s? Think I have the tires figured out. Thanx.

with that monster cam having the intake valve closing later in the cylce, i believe your dynamic compression will actually decrease, so you shouldn't have issues with timing and octane until way up in the rpm band, where cylinder filling will be at its maximum.
