Cam for Z71?

Cam for Z71?
I have been back and fourth trying to figure out a cam size for my 5.3L truck and have not had any two alike answers! So this time I am going to give all my specs and hope for the best. My truck is a 2005 Ext. Cab Z71 with the 5.3L. Changing the stock stall is not an option. It has stock 4.10 gears as well. I want the truck to lope hard, but it is an everyday driver! SO FAR the 212/218 on a 112 lsa sounds appealing. Open to any suggestions. Thanks.

I'd go with a good 220 range duration and 110 to 112 lsa.

Are you sure about the 4.10's? Yes they came in many trucks but only a fraction compared to the hundreds of thousands of 3.73 trucks, so best to be sure. You'd be looking for GT5 in the glove box if you have 4.10's. GT4 represents 3.73's.
The 206/218 .515/.522 112 LSA from CompCAMS is a wonderful torquey camshaft good for off-road, towing, daily driving and is your best chance at max fuel efficiency. It's the XR259 cam, which in a 5.3L gives you an RPM band of approximately 860-6237. It doesn't require a darn thing except matching springs which are only $53 bucks through Lingenfelter's website or eBay. But no stall this and that, just swap it in and tune it. However, the 212/218 112LSA you have chosen (lift quote by chance?) will do just fine in there as well, as you're aware moving the RPM band up even more than the XR259 I suggested. I think you'll be pleased with either cam you go with. Just stick to under a 220/220 if you don't want any drastic changes.

The cam in my sig is great with the stock stall, but there's no lope, it sounds almost stockish. You can get away with the 212/218 on the factory verter, but you'd be better off with a 2600-3000 stall converter. This is my opinion.
It all depends on what you consider driveable and what you're looking for. If you go with too much duration, it will be a little sluggish down low with the factory TC.

stock stall
Changing out the factory stall seems to be more time and money that I really didnt want to spend. Plus, not too familiar with a converter install. Have done several cams but never done a stall....
