IMO, if yall are going to go through the trouble of doing a motor swap like that, I would go ahead and swap in a 6.0 or ls1 instead of the 4.8.

What are the goals for this car, just a driver, or a race car, or do you guys want to keep the factory fuel injection? Easiest would be to drop the 4.8 in, buy a carb manifold and MSD makes a box that will run the ignition and you would be in business.

Actually, the 4.8 has a .018 longer stock then the gen1 327, but they are really close

is this nova auto or stick? 5.33 gear and tubbed i am guess auto .... youll need transdapt flexplate adapter

i used this in another post ..... but here is my parts list that i needed for the swap other then the obvious(harness, pcm, and whatnot)

all summit numbers
HUP-HP3795 ---- Hughes flexplate adapter from ls1 >> oldshool trans/converter(cheaper then the 6.0 spacer and longer bolts)
TRD-4592 ---- Engine mount Adapters ----- only used the 'plate' and the hardware
ATM-2268 ---- oil pressure adapter ----- metric to npt adapter for the auatometer sender
ATM-2277 ---- water temp adapter ---- it is metric to npt adpater for the passenger side head plug --- had to drill it out so the sending unit for my autometer would work.
Needed custom radiator hoses....
ATM-2280 ---- for the head coolant to dump into the heater hose return
I used pacesetter 2001 truck headers, but im sure they make ls1 headers for that swap

cant think of anything else right now .... those engine mounts moved my engine forward .... you might be interested in just making your own when you want them.....

let me know how it turns out. im thinking of pulling the motor in my 64 impala and swapping with a cammed 5.3 with all the bolt-ons. the new motors are just so reliable and i cant really afford a 6.0. btw, is it difficult to bolt a 5.3 to a powerglide?
