Ok, I am looking at cams for a 5.7 vortec. I dont want lope or a rough idle, because I may be running it with a Magna. The one thing I need to know is, are vortec's considered "roller motors"??? If so, will only a roller cam work. I need directions on what kind of numbers Dur/Lift to go for. I only need power from idle-5000 also. Please help!

What size engine do you have?
If your engine is a 5.3l, then I would recommend staying under 208º and keep the lobe centers between 112º and 114º. Choose the wider lobe center if you add the Magnuson. All the LS- based Vortec engines (since 1999) have a hydraulic roller cam and lifter assembly.

I have a 1997 5.7L vortec. Im prolly not gonna run a Magna, and go with spray, and some new internals instead. For all you 99-up guys with 4.8's-6.0's the Magnas are great. They are intercooled and they are a Radix MP charger. HP increases are 63%-125%. The kit for the 96-00 5.7 is an Eaton knock-off roots blower, & its non-cooled. My plan is 50-100 wetshot, headers, cam, intake, possibly heads, and some kind of tuning. All that on a SBRC 2wd. I know Im just another new guy asking loads of questions, but I need cam advice, and also any help with a good ecu tune that will work with the nitrous. Also, what about fuel system upgrades with nitrous. Some tell me, it is essential, and some say your stock system is good up to like 150shot. PLASE reply.
