I am no cam guru, but, why NOT go with a cam that has been proven???
I just couldnt get myself to pay $400 for a new cam just to try it out cause I THINK it would perform better.... I myself would rather go with a proven cam than trying to guess what is better....
thats my .02

Im personally thinking about getting Pat G to spec me out a cam just for ***** and grins to throw in later on down the road once I get bored, from the research I have done on tech the man knows his ****. My current cam is kind of a blah run of the mill cam at 224/224 .565 .565 112(or 114 dont remember off the top of my head).

The cam he speced for the Hauler's 408 is an interesting one for the goals that we set for his truck. This cam is built to rev, like really rev. He said power should peak around 6800 or so and should hold the power to about 7300, so ideally the shifts will be 7300 or so. These are the specs at .050":
XFI LOBES
242/242 .621/.612 110+4 installed on a 106 intake centerline.
I can't wait to hear the idle and feel it spin up to about 7000+!!! It should be nasty.

big cams need lots of mods to extract the true power potential of said cam, like better intake, better heads, higher compression etc...
Some small to mid size cams, benefit better from more undercurve power with the LS motor as is, meaning stock compression and heads.
