alot of turbo guys use stock manifolds to run the exhaust to the front mount turbo. i doubt the stock manifolds will hold the cam back to much. but yes long tubes will greatly improve your performance when added with a cam. i slapped my LT's on with my bolt on only 5.3 and it really woke up the truck.

true, but a turbo cam is quite different than a N/A cam. N/A cams typically utilize longer durations & more overlap to take advantage of higher port velocities. headers allow more efficiency and volume of airflow, so they extend the envelope of usable airflow thereby allowing the use of more aggressive cam profiles.

granted, with the smaller nature of the cams i mentioned, i don't think manifolds would be too big of a detriment, but to step up to something like a 220 or 224 cam would definitely need LTs to make good use of it.

All you need is a cam favored to the exhaust side of the set up, IMO it is a waste of time grabbing for minimal when you can put a better exhaust on and cam it for that. Save up like you did for the car and buy a cam and exhaust...

you didn't read did you?
i did headers over 2 years ago. but i reckon i'll just wait to see if i can get the stroker for the car - then i'll cam the LS1 & put it in the truck. i've already did the hard stuff when i jerked the v6 out... now all i'd have to do is swap short blocks.
