I have a 99 lm7 5.3 and i am planning on putting a cam in it. I want to drastically increase horsepower and torque. I need suggestions for a cam that will give me badass results throughout the entire power band.

That should be nice improvements all around. If you want to minimize computer tuning, get it ground on a 114 lsa.

A good list of your current mods will help better customize one. I would use that one on a stock truck through. I would get new springs and pushrods though. A higher stall converter would be nice too.

 

If you are tight on money, go with a cam of an ls1 engine. It's a nice imrovement over the weak 99 cams for the LM7's. You can one of these cams real cheap.

 

How much would the cam Flyer is talking about cost? $400 area?

almost the same specs as mine but a little more lift and a bigger LSA, so it should idle a little smoother than mine.

 

I am not sure if comp makes that cam Flyer is talking about. Normally, they run about $350-400 new unless you want an ls6 cam. The cam does not have to be new. I got my cam with 3K miles and got a real good deal on it.

 

hey u might want to try a ls6 cam. Heard real good things about it.

 

That would be a good idea. He will have to with an aftermarket stall. That cam tends to make its power un upper rpm range.

 

Is there any cams available with considerable increase in power that I wont have to put a new converter in?

 

A friend of mine used to have a 216/216 114 cam in his 5.3 L truck, stock converter too. He really liked it and I thought it ran great.
