Default Camshaft suggestions!

My truck weighs about 5k pounds (says our local weigh station). I am lookin for a all around great cam. Would like to be shifting around 6500-6800. list of mods in signature. Its my DD so I cant go too aggresive and I rarely tow but its still a truck. I have my eyes on the tru torq level 2 camshaft 223/230 609/604 115 lsa but idk anyone using it in a 6.0 and havent seen much talk about it. Thanks guys and let me know what yall think

Cam sounds about right, I like a tighter lsa on my na cams like 112 or 110 but other wise I think your pretty much right on with that cam.

Id like a 112 or so but dont want to deal with idling issues nor a/c issues. I was worried about the weight of my truck with that aggresive of a cam. Also what pushrods and springs? Plan on cutting the 317's or just using stock 243's. Not looking to use dual springs bit u never kno

Preciate the looking out but 340 is a little much used, new its only 400 with no risk of damage. Id be interested in a lower price shipped. Pm me your bottom dollar

That's a lot of lift for stock heads and single springs. You would definitely want to get them ported. I'm running a 227/235 .614/.621 113lsa in mine. It's a comp ls-r cam. I'm shifting at 6700 right now but may take it up alittle more. Also, with that much cam your going to want a higher stall converter.

if you plan to stay NA with it why not just throw in a 224R or 228R? I dont see a reason to go with a split duration or lift over .600 with stock heads on a na stock cubed motor. mid 22x's duration with sub .600 lift and a tighter lsa like jake99 suggested would be better suited for you still wanting to use your truck as a truck. Me on the other hand, if it doesnt fit in the bed or makes the *** end squat im not pulling it with my truck, lol.

7.40 push rods with pac 1518 springs will work just fine, yeah the 115 lsa will help it idle a little better, the tight lsa helps the power come in a little quicker down low but 115 to 112 aint going to make huge difference. like zachm89 said a 224 or 228r would work real well to, however the peak air flow on these ls heads is close to 700 lift so the higher lift might help out a little id say.

Ok I see what you guys are saying. If the deal falls threw with this cam I may go smaller. I am planning (as of now) to cut the 317s, do the lvl 2 cam, ls7 lifters, 7.4 rods and probably a 50 shot or so. Depending on how my trans holds up. Looks like itll end up having a HD2 shift kit and full corvette servos also. Think itll last??

The trans will last for alittle while as long as you keep your foot out of it. lol.
