nice truck! the 224r cam has a little less duration and almost the same lift. i think it would be a little more dd friendly for u and u could get away with a little less stall. i think you would be happy with something like a tsp 224r or tr220 on like a 112 lsa with around a 2800 stall. both are proven off the shelf cams and would be tame in a 6.0. Im running the 224r in a 5.3 with a 3200 as a dd but circle d has a 2800 single disk for 375 shipped. throw a big trans cooler on it and you would still retain towing capacity imo

Thanks! Ok just so I understand a lower duration cam would make more torque? And would the amount of lift affect the torque? Would the 220 be too small?

And as for the converter, I have a 4L80E with a lock up converter from the factory. That is why I was asking about the multi disc conveter.

Sorry if I seem like a newb like I said I get very timid of doing stuff like this to my DD just for the fact that I am not always the one driving the truck. So I could throw a huge cam in it and I would not mind, but the poor soul who uses it to get hay and feed may not enjoy it.

Thanks
Kody

Hey guys,

I have been looking and it seems I can get a custom cam through texas-speed for the same price as a off the shelf cam.

Would I benefit from getting a custom cam to get a little more out of my 6.0? or should I just stick to a off the shelf cam?

Thanks
Kody

If you're going to get a custom cam I'd suggest getting one spec'd out by PatG

Custom cam would be your best bet.. You can have it design for what you have now or for what you'll be swapping too.

I will see what pat g says.

I am also wondering, my truck has almost 135,000 miles on it. It has had the oil changed very regularly should I go ahead and get new lifters as well?

Thanks

Since you're pulling the heads, I'd go ahead and change lifters and lifter trays, but that's just me.

Well would milling the stock 317's be worth it? I already got a quote locally and they said 125$ minus new gaskets. If it only nets me 5hp I will save the cash to put towards lifters or somthing like that.

Thanks

pat g is the man when it comes to cams. i read a ton of his posts before i joined. guy pretty much has it figured out. i think that the 220 would be perfect. 6.0 is a pretty big motor so i think that the 220 would still be good for some low end torque where as with a 5.3 it would be a bit more mid to high range. 125 for the heads sounds alittle high. arent the ls3 heads 300 bucks brand new? i would probably go ahead and get a new timing chain while your in there. i dont know much about converters but i have read alot about the yank converters. they sound pretty good.

Hey guys,

Sorry for not getting back quicker, I had a job interview friday and the guy will give me a answer if I got the job or not on top of my dad possibly getting a job working with him.

Anyways, I have been looking at TBSS intakes, Worth it, yeh or neh?

I am trying to get every little detail planned out before I have PatG spec the cam.

Thanks
Kody
