Default can you race in 4 low

I read that some people are racing their trucks in 4 low. Is that safe, what are the advantages. I race mine in 4 high but not 4 low. I know the gearing is better. But let me know. Thanks

I know guys have mud bogging, I have personally. But on pavement would be scarey, I suppose it depends alot on gears, weither or not you could unlock front hubs if so equipped. I did try it in my 83 chevy 1/2 ton 4wd but the 700r4 won't shift into 4th gear at WOT unless you put a valve body in it out of a Vette. That truck had 3.08 gears with 31" tall tires.

First thing I dont think you are suppose to put your truck in 4 low unless you dont have traction. Second 4 low shouldnt be taken over 20mph. I would say stay in 4 HI and if you want to transfer more torque get a stall verter or different gears.

The owner's manual says not to go over 45 mph in 4 LO. I guess that wouldn't be much good for racing.

my boss raced a Harley edition F-150 and beat it up to 70 by racing him in 4 low. he has an extended cab 4x4 with protec box. it can be done, it's just not good for it.

I used to race my dads Chevy Luv 4wd in the local sand drags in 4 lo. The only vehicle that ever even came close to me was a rail buggy that had a 455 Olds on it with paddle tires. With the 4 speed manual, 4.10's and fairly short tires the launch was brutal.

As far as racing a late model truck in low, I wouldn't recomment it unless it is in sand or mud.

Hell yea. I stall it up, wait for the green light and hit the go button. All at the same time in 4lo. It'll pull the front wheels off the ground on my Blazer.
