they can both bring down the distance between bolt holes from bank to bank .

i recently had to over come this on my 427 , the intake runners needed to be moved out to line up with the manifold bolts , luckily i had a sheet metal intake and i used some exhaust manifold spreaders to separate the runners enough to get the bolts in , in your case you dont have that option. are the bolts to far apart or not far enough ?
Only thing I know on the motor is that its a 408 built for boost with cnc milled 317 heads.. Ive put on heads that were milled and had no problem.. How much decking/milling did you have?

yes they are GM castings. I didnt even try to put the bolts in because the intake did not even try to seat.

I had a decked block and milled heads on an SBC and when I tried to put the pain in the *** Super Ram intake on it the intake runners wouldn't line up and neither would the bolts (wouldn't seat all the way in the valley). Measure across the top of the block between the heads and see if the block has been decked, if so get to work cutting up more stuff... gotta love modding cars with a bunch of different people involved.

I'm familiar with this happening when blocks and decks have been milled, used to see it on sbc's all the time, you might need something custom for an intake...
