Uhm well that would explain it dude. You're f'ed unless you can lock the crankshaft in place someway. Should have taken the pulley off first. Your only choice is to lock the flexplate up or get a rod through the blancer and have a friend hold it to lock it from turning over. Otherwise install your new heads and then take the pulley off.

Isnt there a tool for locking the flexplate?

I took my other 18" breaker bar, and locked it thourgh the balancer against the block...worked like a charm, but I had it done right after I posted the original post...lol

Yea, there's a couple different methods...there are flexplate turners, flexplate locking tools, and the old big screwdriver wedged against one of the teeth trick...

Dont put it against the teeth, put it through the hole in the flexplate

I actually used a big nylon strap wrench around my crank pulley, wedged against the ground or frame (can't remember), it worked like a charm.

Yea, I actually don't like that method, but it's common practice for alot of folks. Even through one of the holes in the flexplate I'd be concerned about the flexplate getting damaged, that crank bolt is effin tight

when i had a shop do my pulleys teh crank bolt broke off INSIDE teh crank... a small 2ish hr job turned into a 14hr job... got that stocker out evently...
