So I have a buddy who works at a local dealership that had a cop come in with 3,000 miles on a 6.0 Caprice cop car. Apparently, "turn around, don't drown" only applies to everyone BUT police. Long story short, I have a free 6.0 aluminum block, crank, rods, heads, valvetrain ect. A almost perfectly good long block.

He sucked in just enough water to crack 2 pistons and bend a connecting rod, so I could just replace the 2 rear pistons (and 1 rod) and put it up for sale- however I have decided it would be more fun to use some of the parts for myself.

It came with 823 heads (and the offset rockers of course) so what would I need to bolt these into my 02 2500HD? I know that I would need a L92 intake, but what else? Could I use my fuel rails? What about my throttle body and cables? Mine is return, so I know I can't use the stock squareport fuel rails.

Don't worry, I'll put up what I don't use in the classifieds section in a couple weeks. Still debating on using the crankshaft as a lamp since its center drilled, the block as a temporary table (its good, Ill use it later) and of course, sell the front/rear/valley cover/oil pan/cam/afm lifters ect and whatever else I don't need.

I was going to just bolt down a set of 243s that flow 315cfm, but porting a set of 823's to move 350-360cfm seems very very tempting!!! One or the other will be for sale when I finish my stuff.

Guess I'll just bolt down the 243's and sell the 823's. Somebody's gonna want em.

Bolting the 243s will make it a bolt on deal. All your stuff will fit like factory except for the knock sensors and 58x crank reluctor wheel vs your 24x. Lingenfelter make a 58x-24x adapter and several companies have a knock sensor extension harness.

Oh crap is that how my question reads?

My question was, keeping the LQ4 bottom end and using the square port heads and a L92 intake manifold, what else would I need to make those square port heads work on a return style fuel setup?

If I did use that newer stuff, I would literally ONLY use the block and go buy forged internals, then just take my heads off and swap out the engines. I don't plan on using any of the AFM/DOD stuff, cam, front/rear/top covers, lifters ect. I would machine the block for use with a 24x reluctor wheel crankshaft and "retrofit" it for use in the old 2002.
