Default CAT question on 5.7 vortec

I have been thinking about cutting the cats off of my truck just for the hell of it. I was wondering if anyone on here has done in here to a 97 vortec 350 and had any probs? I dont want to buy any o2 simms which is why i was asking.

I took em off my 96' I had. I had the light come on, so I put a picture on top of it. It sounded so nasty. I loved it

my brother has a 97 with true duals no cats and 2 40 series flows and it sounds really good. the ses light will come on but o2 sims are inexpensive and easy to put on.

i took mine off my old 97 350. very nice gain.
i installed 2 bullet mufflers in place of the cats, and you couldnt tell the difference afterwards. still nice and mellow.
i ran 02 simms....

my old truck was a '97 chevy, RC/SB 2wd 350 vortec. had true duals, no cats, 40 series flowmasters. i did NOT put O2 sims on it, my SES light came on and stayed on for the 3 years i had the truck. it was bone stock except for the exhaust and a cheapass Airraid kit w/ the K&N filter. ran 15.41 at 86.5 mph in the 1/4 w/ a 2.24 60 foot. it actually hooked at the track w/ a peg leg 3.42 geared rearend.
i'd get the sims if it were me. ive got em on my current '00 truck w/ no cats, no SES light is nice.

anyone in the conway, SC area might know my old truck. i think someone down there owns it now, traded it in at Palmetto Chevrolet. dark green, tan interior, tinted windows. 15x9" hurricane rims w/ 275-60s, duals w/ turndowns at the corners of the rear bumper. i miss that truck! CHIP
