Is there a reason why I shouldn't just put a small air filter on the valve cover and cap the hole on the intake tube?

This is the one I'm gonna get. It's from Billet Prototypes.

Here's where I'm gonna mount mine:

I never would have considered one of these until I saw the results.

I've never understood why someone would mount it way out in front like that. It's not even near the PCV, and you have to run hoses from the back of the engine to the front, and then back.

It's clean. Where can you mount it near the PCV without attaching it with zip ties or something near the brake booster. We're talking about 2 18" runs of hose

What's wrong with mounting it to the brake booster? It doesn't get much closer and cleaner than that.

this is just my opinion, but the further away you mount the catch can the better it will work... You gotta remember it's purpose, it is seperating liquid from a vapor... the longer the vapor travels away from it's source, the cooler it gets. When it cools the vapor turns to a liquid....

Your engine makes more power when it has a vacuum being pulled on the crankcase thru a pvc system. Its also helps with ring seal, and helps reduce windage in the the engine to allow the oil to drain back down more quickly.

Here's a good read for you

I too run the Sauko Michi can. I custom ordered mine in black with no decals on it. No one ever sees it. It looks completely OEM mounted right on the firewall on the hood grounding strap
