Default Change in plans - no LQ9, keeping stock LQ4 instead

All of you can say "I told you so" some more now

It's gonna save me probably $600-700 to NOT pull the LQ4 apart and swap rods and pistons - I'm not gonna touch the internals now, especially since it's only got 10,000 miles on it. Now I won't have to buy rod bolts or bearings, main bolts or bearings, new piston rings, head gaskets, or head bolts. Also won't have to have the new rotating assembly balanced.

I think I'll be able to run more timing this way, along with more boost, and I'll be less prone to detonation when towing during the summer here.

Go ahead - tell me you told me so

I'd still throw the rod bolts in there, That's cheep insurance and easy to do while it's out.

Would I still need new rod bearings?

Nope, just pull the pan off and swap the bolts. Aftermarket bolts are much stronger then the stockers.

OK I think the ARP rod bolts were only like $75 or something too. Can I reuse the oil pan gasket or do I need another one?

Not 100% sure, but could most likely reuse it.

The good thing about the LQ4 is the low compression which your supercharger will like a lot better, you can run more boost.
