Default Change in Turbo Cams

Bought Kyle Brown’s 5.3 turbod 1990 s10 with a borg Warner s366, First turbo setup I’ve ever had, I’m used to nitrous.. The owner after Kyle put a 5.3 in it with a Texas speed “stage 3 turbo cam” 218/224 .600/.600 113+3 LSA..
not too impressed with it and thinking about switching it out with a BTR stage 3 cam
230/235 .609"/.610" 114+4

Just looking for some thoughts on it whether I should switch it out or not? Or just put a bigger turbo on it.

It’s a single S366?

Depends on what you're not impressed with. Gun to my head, I wouldn't put a 230/235 in that setup though.

In a 5.3 A 230/235 is a bit much unless you plan 7500+ rpm and a loose stall in a light car. If that’s a single then absolutely change the turbo, that’s way too small unless your goal is like 7psi and 5800rpm.

Yep, It’ll for sure get changed out but just wondering whether I should change the cam out as well or just leave it?

I would leave it for now, nothing wrong with it. It won’t hinder anything. How hard do you plan to lean on it.

With a turbo as small as that is, you have to be mindful of drive pressure. A cam with a lot of overlap with a lot MORE pressure in the exhaust than intake manifold will start to have reversion. Turbo cams with overlap only belong on very large and very efficient turbos.
