why?
did you test it/them?
stick a screw driver in the boot of the spark plug wire and see if there is any spark when you try to start it. if it does have spark, its a good chance that the coil is fine, if it doesnt spark i would think that the coil is bad or the spark plug wire is bad. replace the wire first. test it again. if its still not sparking, then its your coil. and make sure the connections to the coil are good and have nothing wrong with them... thats my best guess to help with the situation. if anyone has any more info, please add on or correct me if im wrong

It only does it at high load WOT. My guess is that the coil is weak. It's almost 10 years old, plus the higher compression of my engine may be making it worse.

compression wont affect your coil.

It will blow out spark easier. So if my coil is weak to begin with, that would be why the spark is going out.

jus got back from advancedauto and even after swapping the wire and plug from #7 to #1 the code is still reading cylinder #7 misfiring. I got the guy to clear the code out and it has yet to come back on. if it comes back on im gonna swap coil packs with another cylinder and take it back to see if its still reading #7 and then go from there. next step would be injector i would imagine and after that valves

My money is on a clogged fuel rail or maybe the injector has a blockage/bad spray pattern.

pull the fuel rail and injectors. blow out the fuel rail with an air hose and send out the injectors to be cleaned.

has the code come back up?
