Default Check engine light obd2 port?

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot... My check engine light came on today leaving work. So I went back to the shop to use my snap on scanner to look up the code... I couldn't get the scanner to work. I kept saying it had no communication with my truck... I did notice that usually when I hook that scanner into an obd2 port it comes on but I was having to turn the scanner on manually... I assumed the scanner messed up somehow and The truck runs and sounds fine so I assumed it was a sensor of some kind so I went to oreillys to have them pull the code and ran into the same problem... It's a 2001 silverado 5.3 I put a newer 5.3 engine, cam, long tubes and mail order tune from Nelson in may and its been running fine no problems... Any ideas?

I only see an aux 20a fuse no cig fuse and its good. My truck has three aux ports inside well I guess two aux and one cig in a row... My radar detector is in one phone charger in another and nothing in the third both of those work but I plugged my charger into the third and it didn't come on... But shouldn't all three be on the same fuse

probably ever 3 of 5 vehicles I tune has one that's blown lol. If you overload the ports they can draw too much current.

The third one is on that fuse. The other two ports are on another circuit.
