Default cleaning maf

Ok i read up on cleaning the maf and was just wondering which way i should spray it, from the back throught the screen, or should i spay it through the screen then past the contacts. thanks. Also i got a p0101 code, do u think that could be from oil residue on the maf sensors.

I'd give it a good soaking, gently i might add of some good quality electric contact clearer (note: make sure, real sure that its a residue free cleaner)

Sounds like your MAF is dirty anyway as the P0101 code indicateds a MAF Sensor Performance issue, ie. its %error against the dynamic air flow is getting worse. So give it a good lowpressure cleaning, let it dry and reinstall.

I just cleaned my GF's MAF (4.6 Mustang) with some CRC (?) electronic contact for sensitive elelctronics. Residue free.... I just sprayed the thing with several good shots and let it dry for a couple of hours. made a world of difference. got it at O'reillys
