Cold air intake and heat soak issues
I am having a heat soak issue with my cold air intake or MAF.
IAT gets really high like 170s after driving at a redlight cycle or if i sit for 3 min or so.
They do come down to the 90s after a 2 mile drive at 60.
I think the maf is getting heat soaked because i can hold my hand on the intake pipe and its hot but doesnt burn me.
So should i get another cold air intake with a box around the filter to sheild heat OR relocate the IAT sensor?
IT A K&N INTAKE WITH CHROME AIRTUBE AND OPEN ELEMENT FILTER WITH A HEATSHIELD.
OPINIONS PLEASE!

first-switch from metal tube to plastic
second-check MAF sensor and make sure its not damaged.
third-do you have stock headers and stock thermostat? those are contributing factors to having a hot engine bay. aftermarket headers get rid of heat quicker so you wont have an engine bay thats 150 degrees when you open the hood. and the thermostat helps keep the engine cooler, therefor the block will be cooler and that will drop under hood temps.
fourth-make sure the air box that you have seals close to the hood and snug against the inner fender and there is nothing blocking the cold air from coming up into the intake.

My opinion is that high IAT's do not cause any problems.Just a # that people seem to get hung up on when in reality ,99.9% of the time the #'s being high doesnt mean crap....
Maybe not the best for extracting all out HP but ill bet you dont lose 1-2 hp.
