Cooler air is denser, which means the pcm will allow more fuel, which means more power.

Big thing being that FI produces much more heat then a cold air intake. When air gets compressed it gets hot... I don't see the big deal with the IATs getting hot at a red light. Your not running the engine hard at a stop.. So if it comes back down while driving, no big deal.. Polish it up and drive that bitch Also I highly doubt that a closed element filter actually stays cooler then a open air element to the point where your lossing HP... My IAT's on a 95 deg day stay about 100 deg's and def creep up when at a stop...

Maybe not the best for extracting all out HP but ill bet you dont lose 1-2 hp.
when IATs get high it pulls timing which you can feel a big difference in power on takeoff
Also has stock manifolds and stock t-stat!
Volant or s&b is on my list if i cant solve this issue.
I dont have a actual pic of my engine yet

But your saying they go back down when driving.. They are going to go up with any kind of intake you put on the truck, then naturally go down while driving..

We all know those prochargers run cool because they don't make any power!

You could go with a plastic closed box CAI AND relocate the IAT sensor to cover all of your bases...

Exactly why i was looking at the volant and s&b and a cold air duct is available for both that fits down low behind the bumper.
Relocate the IAT is also an option.
