Big thing being that FI produces much more heat then a cold air intake. When air gets compressed it gets hot... I don't see the big deal with the IATs getting hot at a red light. Your not running the engine hard at a stop.. So if it comes back down while driving, no big deal.. Polish it up and drive that bitch Also I highly doubt that a closed element filter actually stays cooler then a open air element to the point where your lossing HP... My IAT's on a 95 deg day stay about 100 deg's and def creep up when at a stop...
