Comp 212/218 high lift questions
#12
I don't want much lope at all. If it sounds a little meaner than a stock escalade with the 6.2 I will be happy. Should I run manifolds or could I use the stock manifolds until I decide which headers I want? Would 1 3/4 be ok or should I consider a stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 or a 1 7/8? Does anyone have a clip of this cam in a 6.0? All I can find is low lift which is on a 112. One more thing, what converter?

I couldn'd tell ya about the stock manifolds, Cus I put 1 3/4" dynatech LT's w/ catted true duals on mine before the cam. I ran it about 6 months NA, with a TRT2600 yank convertor, and loved the performance, but it was way too load w/ two 18" long magnaflows out the back, but damned strong from idle to +/-6,500 rpm if you could stand the noise at WOT. After I put the charger on It got even louder! So I put on a 2 1/2" in/2 1/2" out third muff on it and killed the HP and TQ. To tell ya the truth, i'm thinking about pullin' the dualin/dualout and just do a 3" x-pipe and live w/ the noise!

alot of guys like the low lift 212/218. i have a friend with the higher lift version in his lq9 and the lope is only slightly noticeable from the rear where the exhaust exits and it has plenty of power to fry the tires and he is just running the trailblazer converter. imo that cam will do what you want it to do.

People do run the LS6 springs on the Comp Cams XR265HR-15 212/218 .558"/.563" cam. If you wanted to you could go for some pac1218 springs.

Well the person i'm buying the comp xr265hr from is running the ls6 springs and it seems to work for him with it. anyone know if you need longer push rods or just buy some hardened 7.4 ones for the extra insurance...

LS6 springs (yellow) will work . . . but I would run the PAC 28-1218. They're good for .600 lift. You're going to want a bigger cam later on. You'll be able to shift at 6500-6800 with no worries about seat pressure . . . . . but don't take my word for it . . . seeing how I'm some ******** and all !

Exactly what I was thinking. The 212/218 will be a very mild cam in a 6.0 IMO, and the stock converter will be fine. Personally, I think you would be better off with something closer to what blackgmc is going to try. Should idle like stock with that lsa, and would be a good match for a tb converter or tt2600 in a dd. Also, 1 3/4" headers should suffice.
