Could you get by without any tunning with this cam in a 5.3? 212/218/ 553/563 114+4 thx

I know the lower lift 212/218 you can go in without tuning. Not sure on this one thought. You might get away just by rasing the idle to about 650rpm.

Maybe,but you will not get the upper RPM benefits. I believe that is too much lift for stock springs though.

Yeah.. he won't even get by with the ls6 springs. He will need the Comp 918's or comparable.

I think it would be ok, but would run better with some sort of tuning. That cam will probably have a similar idle as the low lift version since they have the same amount of overlap in the .006 - .050 range.

Its a small enough cam you dont need tuning. Just swap the springs and raise the idle to @ 700rpms. From tuning you may get another 10rwhp though.

so.. what if you have an 03 with throttle by wire, how can you raise the idle, no to hijack or nething just curious

The tiny hole in the TB blade, just drill it out in small incriments till the idle is where you want it. Just dont push it over 1/4". Mine is set at 750rpms now, and the hole is about 3/16. Maybe a tiny bigger.

Just dont go nuts and drill it to big the first time or your SOL.
