Comp Cam 216/222 @.050 with 111 LSA
I was curious if there are any members that have a cam in their truck with these specs. I have been talking with Comp Cams about a cam to suit my needs and this is what they sent me. Specs on the cam are duration @.050 216/222, valve lift .561/.566, lobe separation is 111 with a 4 degree advance. They also recommended I install (Springs, 26918-16, Pushrods, 7955-16, Rocker trunion upgrade kit, 13702-KIT) I have a stock 06 ECSB 1500 5.3 L59 with manga flow exhaust and a CAI. I told them I wanted to keep the stock torque converter and still have good road manners. I tow a trailer from time to time but is mainly a daily driver. Any feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks for your imput on my post. I'm only keeping the stock stall because the truck has 136k on it and I figure the trans is getting towards the end of its life. If and when it fails I would go with a higher rpm stall. Also in general I don't want something to wild since it is a DD.

I ran that exact same cam in my truck before I wiped a lobe out. In my opinion this is a great street cam for a heavier truck (mine is 4WD). It really kept the power band where I wanted it but it still did pull to 6K. I ran is mostly with a 2600 stall and for a short while with a 3000 stall. I have a few videos of the cam on my photobucket page. Ask any questions you may have about it.

Cakes,
Thanks for chiming in I was hoping there would be someone with this sort of setup. Just out of curiosity what caused the cam lobes to get wiped out like your photos showed? Bad lifter? Did you ever drive the truck with the cam and the stock stall? How did the truck do with the 2600 stall. I would guess you went to the 6.0 after the cam problem? Did you get the cam from comp and what other mods did you have done at the time? Looking back now what would you have done different if you still had that setup? Im just trying to avoid any (well I wish I had done that differently) experiences.
All,
Again thanks for you input and feedback!

I do not know for sure what caused the lobes to be wiped out but I lost oil pressure in my engine in my driveway. It came back after a few seconds but I think it was the oil pressure relief spring getting stuck open in the oil pump. Engine had 122K on it when it happened.
The 2600 stall Yank converter was my 3rd major modification so I was unable to drive the truck with the cam and stock stall. In my opinion it would not have been too bad but you could have felt a big difference.
Here is a video of the cam in my 5.3 with 3000 stall converter.
The 6.0 was installed when I found out the came was wiped. It was a new engine. Cam was spec'd by Patrick G and ground for him by Comp. I had a UPD intake, Long tube headers with MagnaFlow cat-back and a tune by Black Bear. Also do not forget I had 4.10's from the factory.
I would not do much different besides go with a cam spec'd by EPS. I think his lobes are better than Comps and are not as harsh on the valve train. Also make sure you have a 07+ intake manifold and 87mm TB. Much better than the intake my truck came with.

So you did not have any other valvetrain mods other than the cam? I checked out EPS and do you know if they grind their own cams? Did you have the Black Bear data log tune done or a traditional?

I had upgraded Comp 918 springs and 1 piece pushrods. EPS uses their own lobe design but they are ground by Comp. I have one of their cams in my truck now. I use the EFI Live Auto Cal so I send logs to Justin for tweaking. No better way to tune!!
