Default Comparing set ups with timeslips..

well i thought it would be a good idea to show everyone a couple different set ups with a couple different results.. to start off ill go from my first set up, now all this is on a 5.3 4x4 ecsb, set up is was as follows..

212/218 529/529(i think) 113 lsa cam by lunati voodoo
pacesetter lt headers
4.10s
3200 circle d converter
CAI
best time was 1.98 60' 8.97 @ 78.03mph right lane

next set up was, switched cam to a
217/223 549/549 113 lsa
milled heads 30 thousands
best time was 1.94 60' 8.69 @ 80.62 mph left lane

then i just switched converter from circle d 3200 to a
yank sst 3600
best time was a 1.87 60' 8.59 @ 80.29 right lane

finally switched my 217/223 for a 222/226 596/598 111+2lsa and switched out the truck manifold for a tbss with a 87mm tb and this is how truck is rt now..
222 cam
3600 stall
tbss manifold
milled heads .030
4.10s
lt headers
best time was a 1.87 60' 8.42 @ 82.56 right lane

what did i learn from all this.. dont be scared to go big.. its a big difference and drivability isnt much worse.. i DD my truck everyday and if u ask me dont bother with the 212/218 cams and baby stalls ur gonna want more.... 3600 drives just fine and the difference in top end on the bigger cam is just sooooo much better.. but i understand everyone has different preferences this is just my opinion.. hope u guys enjoy the info. any questions feel free..

I agree. That's why I went with a SS4000 for my truck with just bolt-ons. My wife drove it every day. The converter has to be a good match for the cam, i.e. your cam with a 278 mm converter would be a dog, but with the looser, smaller diameter converter it launches better and has great shift extensions. Just your converter swap got you 1 tenth with only a 400 rpm increase in stall speed, with no loss of mph. On the cam, just look at the mph, thats great mph for a 5.3 in a heavy truck...a direct indication of hp, it went up and up with cam changes with no negative effect on the bottom side due to the converter selection.

3200 roughly $425 3600 $750 so 325 more for 1 tenth i c where ur coming from but any bigger would b a bit harder to dd.. for me it was worth it because the over all result was good.. without that stall i couldnt of gone on the cam im on.. yes ur rt i guess its like going from 3.73 to 4.10s.. might as well go 4.30s but i just couldnt since i didnt want it too loose.. but 4k converter must me nice.. i might think of sending mine back i have one free restall.. but idk.. scared of street manners..

1998 Ls1 1988 Ram 3.90 gears 4l60e factory converter, long tube headers, CAI. 27in tall hoosier tires rear 31 in mudd terrains in front

2.05 60' 8.93 @ 78.1 mph 14.0 @ 94mph. I already regret not going with 4.56 gears. Since these times I have added a LS6 manifold, UD pulley, 30in street tires all around, and got a dyno tune gained 15 rwhp. I still need to make it back to the track though

my truck is a DD but it doesnt have to be driven everyday. 4000 stalls arent cheap and i might lose some street manners. if could cut a 1.6 with the 3200 id be happy.

If you want a "flash loose" converter run something set up for a car but make it a triple disc or you may lose on the big end.

I have a few slips like you did but not cam changes.... gear and converter changes.
Good way to try everything out and keep the slips to prove your setups.
Now my questions.....are the slips around the same temps? Was the truck on DRs? Care to say how tame or aggressive the tune is?

im good with the set up.. i might do some weight reductions later.. and yes temps were around the same, i only go to the track when its kinda cold.. one of those slips is in mid december but temps have been in the 60-70.
and i dont have my slips just pictures but i tried to keep them all because i knew i was planning on changing set ups.and no all those run have been on street tires running on 4hi... and all those slips were tunned by justin at blackbear.. exept for the last one where i had rhino look over the tune and tweak it and raise my shift points..
