I loved my SS4000!! DD was not terrible, it was loose, but it was worth it! Call dave and ask him what he thinks! FWIW my truck picked up mph with the converter, there is a nice test graph on yank's site explaining str and the efficiency up top vs a stock gm converter. Long story short, the ss3600 was more efficient up top even with the high str.

how are you launching? foot brake? stall up? if so what rpm?

my truck works best on a 1000-1200rpm launch, never liked the high stall up rpm, it actually 60's worse but then again i am heavier than you and bigger motor but my stock 5.3 didnt like the stall up too much either

Who tunes your truck?

Maybe explore some ways to boost lowend torque in the tune. I think you should be able to do better than high 1.8x's.

Its had more and less timing in the low end, it just will not "launch". I have to believe its just a balance of the weight, converter and gearing. We have tweaked the bottom end tuning last 2 times at the track, probably about 15 passes and 10 reflashes.....lol. His log shows the converter flash to 3600, but it starts climbing like a rocket at 4000. I think his cam vs. vehicle weight needs a lil more punch on the bottom.
