Ism going to look and see if I can see with them on the truck. Can I just swap heads for something without the notch? As for getting them worked this area isn't so great for getting any LS work done.

Edit: couldn't see crap. I'm stupid for thinking I could. However, they are 706 heads.

With the 706 you might get luck and not have to worry about the notch. I have seen them on the 862 truck heads and the 853/241 LS1 heads. I don't recall ever seeing them on the 706 heads as of yet.

There was an old document online which is now long gone. If I recall correctly it said the 862 truck heads could have the notch from 99-01 any you needed to use the correct gasket. I believe since the 706 were cast at a different foundry with a different process the notch was eliminated. How ever in the past they have been known to crack around the bolt holes and loose coolant.

Thats correct. If they haven't cracked by now chances are slim there going to.

My 00 has them and they haven't cracked with over 160K miles on it.
