I thought it was 05... I might be wrong though. The "second design" are a little beefier looking.

The LQ4 got the LS2 rods in '04. I have one myself, as well as supporting documentation.

Default Thanx guys

We appreciate You're responses/help as I'm not sure exactly what year 5.3L I've got . It took me a while to find out there were #'s on the drivers side block deck behind where the cyl. head resides that have been partially sanded off in the cleaning process . Maybe a magnifying glass and I suppose I could perform some sort of acid wash/development similar to the police procedure for identifying filed #'s . Anyway thanx again .

Default 1 thing I found about rod differences

1 thing I found out about the rods since I first posted this is the 1st design uses a semi-floating "pressed" pin and the 2nd design uses a semi-floating "clipped" pin .

Are the 2nd gen LM7 rods the same as in the LQ4? If so, they're full-floating wrist pins held in with clips. Same rod as a LS2.
