Convert MAF IAT to stand alone IAT
I have a density tune on my 01 sierra 4.8 and the only reason i keep my MAF is for the IAT, can i use a ls1 style IAT with my setup with original wiring?
reason for asking is my MAF has been looking pretty pitiful for a few years but i kept it anyway and tonight (cold air) i had an extremely lean running motor that started 10 minutes into a light throttle drive, it wont idle at all and has lean knocking now.

Nice, so does anybody have any part numbers or car models i can use at a local parts store? I'm kinda in a hurry to get this figured so ordering online is too slow.

if your turbo and want a screw in one on the cheap. go to your local parts store and get a 87 grand national one. then go to your yard and clip any loose modern gm iat pigtail that fits. then look at your maf and you can easily follow which two wires go to the iat. clip, splice, and rock.

Launching!
Just curious, how is removing MAF and moving the IAT sensor elsewhere going to help with your lean cruise and idle? Or are you just trying to remove an unnecessary intake component, then get it retuned?

Well if my MAF is dead then i have no IAT considering its built in to the MAF, and it is pointless for me to run a MAF if i don't need one with SD.

But thanks for the replies, honestly I"m more worried about the new sensor working exactly the same as the stocker as far as tune wise. I'm not in any position to be getting a retune considering my tune is 400 miles away
